HISTORY OF GIDEON RESCUE
In the aftermath of the 2010 Haiti earthquake, a plea for help reached a group of recent graduates from the International Rescue and Relief program at Union University. Moved by compassion and faith, they stepped forward, asking in Jesus’ name for God to be their strength as they responded to the overwhelming devastation in Port-au-Prince.
Serving in the midst of crisis, the team experienced firsthand the power of God to save all who call upon Him. They witnessed Him provide in extraordinary ways—multiplying resources, feeding thousands, and establishing medical clinics from nothing. The directive of Matthew 10—to heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, and preach the gospel—became a lived reality. Though they began with very little, they found they “lacked nothing” (Deuteronomy 8:9; Luke 22:35).

From this experience, a new chapter in disaster response was born. The team came to understand what matters most to God: people. In moments of crisis, life’s deepest questions rise to the surface, revealing a “spiritual golden hour.” Just as rapid response is critical in saving physical lives, there is also a crucial window to reach hearts in times of profound loss. When everything familiar is gone, people search for something unshakable—an Anchor.
God has been faithful in every mission, and it is this same hope we seek to share: hope in Him and in the promise of His soon return. This world is not our home; there is a better country—a heavenly one—where there will be no more disasters. Every nation, tribe, tongue, and people are welcomed as honored guests at that banqueting table. Our goal is simple—no empty seats.God has been faithful in every mission, and it is this same hope we seek to share: hope in Him and in the promise of His soon return.
